Virginia ‘Ginger’ M. Cashman, 91

Virginia “Ginger” M. Cashman, 91, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Friday morning, May 29, 2015, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie.

Virginia Margaret Lien was born in DeSmet, South Dakota, on Sept. 15, 1923, the daughter of Edward and Lula (Rowbotham) Lien. She grew up in Blooming Prairie and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School. On Nov. 15, 1948, Virginia was united in marriage to John ‘Jack’ Cashman in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. The couple raised two children. She worked at several companies in Blooming Prairie as a tax preparer. A member of First Lutheran Church, Virginia enjoyed playing golf and bridge.

Virginia is survived by her two children: Candy (Doug) Voltin, and John (Julie) Cashman, both of Eagan, Minnesota; two grandchildren: Brandon and Paige; two great-grandchildren: Rory and Etta; two sisters: Betty Johnson of Austin, Minnesota, and Leota Dugstad of Lake City, Minnesota; and her best friend Russ James.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Lula Lien; her husband John ‘Jack’ Cashman in 1999; and her brother Marvin Lien.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in St. Columbanus Cemetery, Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, at a later date. Memorials can be directed to recipient of donor’s choice.
