A 31-year-old Austin man was arrested after a drunken hit and run Thursday night near the Hormel Foods Corporate Office North building.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said officers were taking a report from the victims near Sixth Street and 16th Avenue Northeast at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday when they spied the suspect’s vehicle, a silver sedan, driving near the scene. Officers stopped the car and noticed the driver smelled of alcohol.
The driver failed a preliminary PBT test and was taken to the Mower County Jail, where he refused to properly take several breathalyzer tests, according to Krueger. The driver was held until sober.
