Magdeline “Mick” Christiansen, 95, of Austin, Minnesota, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Sacred Heart Care Center.

Mick was born in Superior, Wisconsin, on Sept. 14, 1919, to Angeline and Joseph Maciosek. She attended school in Rutledge, Minnesota. On Feb. 5, 1938, Mick married James E. Christiansen. To this union, three children were born: James, Gary and Pam.

Mick worked with her husband on house-building sites, ran a small country store, and after her children were in school, she worked at Woolworth’s. She retired from Woolworth’s on Feb. 28, 1984. Her husband James died on May 21, 1985.

Mick’s faith was important to her. She was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She loved flowers, birds, painting, and traveling. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a zest for life.

Mick is survived by son, Jim “Christy” (Jan) Christiansen of Buffalo, Minnesota; son, Gary Christiansen of Austin; daughter Pam Christiansen (Dan Notto) of Pawlet, Vermont; grandchildren: Joel (Rhonda) Christiansen, Kent Christiansen, Dean (Nancy) Christiansen, Sarah (Chad) Hague, Kelly (Randy Cox) Christiansen, Aaron (Leslie) Christiansen; great-grandchildren, Samuel Christiansen, William Christiansen, Mia Christiansen, Christian Hague, Cameron Cox, Corey Cox, Levi Christiansen and Alex Christiansen.

Mick was preceded in death by her beloved sister Elizabeth “Bette” Feeley.

A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Mayer Funeral Home is entrusted with Mick’s arrangements.
