This year was different then any other at Bridget’s Dance Conservatory of Austin.

With six seniors, owner Bridget Halvorson decided to explore the topic of bullying through a lyrical dance. She used her own story of being a victim of bullying in high school and recorded her voice telling the story of what it felt like to be bullied.

The dancers performed the piece at three competitions this spring. They received two first place platinum awards and one first place high gold award. They also received a first place overall grand champion award for senior small groups.

Halvorson is willing to to perform the dance for the community and even at schools, because she said it is important for the victims of bullying to know they are not alone and that there is hope for brighter days.

Her hope for the piece is to bring awareness to the topic of bullying and to help and inspire others by telling her story. The dancers in the piece are; Madison Klein, Megan Fleiner, Alayna Loveland, Berghyn Hull, Carma Sheehan, Jordan Friend, Shayla Pacholl and Kylie Poshusta.
