The Austin Post 91 Legion baseball team split a doubleheader with Northfield on the road Monday.

Post 91 took the first game 8-7 in eight innings and it lost the nightcap 7-6.

Austin (3-1 overall) won the opener when Jordan Hart doubled in a run in the top of the eighth inning and it had the tying run on third base to end the second game.

“We competed well with a Northfield team that just finished fourth at state,” Austin head coach Joe Kroc said. “Each game could have went either way and I hope that this will make us a better team down the stretch.”

Austin will host the Rochester Patriots of John Marshall in a doubleheader at Dick Seltz Field 4 p.m. Wednesday.
