Judith Kae (Decker) Kollar, 69, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away quietly in her home on May 11, 2015, from complications of COPD while in hospice care.
Judy was born in Austin, Minnesota, to Tony and Alice (Christensen) Decker on Feb. 16, 1946. She graduated from Austin High School in 1964, then went on to graduate from Austin Technical School, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Judy and Stephen (Tom) Kollar were married on Sept. 25, 1976, and made their home in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.
Though she worked as a nurse in many capacities, the job she most enjoyed was with American Family Insurance in Austin. She also rode with the Steele County Mounted Posse from 1989-1991.
She was an animal lover who always took in strays — anything with four legs and fur could find a home with her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen (Tom) Kollar; brother, Luverne Skogebo, and sister, Elaine Fjerstad.
Judy is survived by her three children: James Decker of Savannah, Georgia, Alise (John) Hickman of Bedford, Indiana, and Anthony Kollar; six grandchildren; her sister, Cathie (James) Tanner, of Houston, Texas; brothers: Arnie (Jean) Skogebo of Rochester, Minnesota, Allen (Marti) Skogebo of Crownsville, Maryland, and Marvin (Joan) Skogebo of Lompoc, California; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the First Lutheran Church, 434 First Street SW in Blooming Prairie with the Rev. Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service on Thursday morning.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Homestead Hospice House at 2350 26th Street NW Owatonna, MN 55060. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
