The Austin Fire Department will need about $27,000 more to fix its roof.

Fire Chief Jim McCoy told the Austin City Council Monday the roof would cost about $187,000 to build rather than the $160,000 he previously budgeted.

Part of the increased price tag comes from getting the roof up to code with energy requirements and other costs, according to McCoy.

The extra funding will come from the department’s Fire PERA fund.
