A couple of untimely errors kept the Austin baseball team out of reach in a 7-5 loss at Winona (3-1 overall, 2-1 Big Nine) Thursday.
The Packers (1-4 overall, 1-4 Big Nine) trailed 4-3 in the fifth inning when Austin committed two errors in the frame that led to three unearned runs by Winona.
Austin scored two runs in the top of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough.
“We’re working on becoming a team that plays a seven inning game and avoids giving teams four or five outs,” Austin head coach Chris Gogolewski said.
Dylan Gasner went 4-for-4 with a double and a RBI for Austin.
