Police: 1981 Duluth murder solved

DULUTH — Duluth police say the 1981 murder of a teenage girl has been solved.

Police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension announced Monday that a suspect has been linked by DNA to the cold case homicide of 17-year-old Carolyn Andrew.

Andrew was found with a gunshot wound to her head in Twin Ponds on May 6, 1981.

The BCA says DNA evidence links the killing to Cecil Wayne Oliver, who died in 1988 at age 30.
