The Austin gymnastics team finished in second place in the Big Nine meet in Northfield Saturday.
The Packers tallied a score of 142.5, Northfield won the meet with a 144.65 and Rochester Century took third with a 141.125.
Austin’s Maddie Mullenbach took fourth in the all-around and first on the beam and Jennifer Boyle took eighth in the all-around.
“Taking second wasn’t bad and the score wasn’t bad,” Austin head coach Alex Bade said. “We just didn’t have our best day on the bars and that killed us.”
The Packers will host the Section 1A meet in Packer Gym at noon Saturday as they look to earn their third straight trip to the Class A state meet.
“I think the girls are excited to host it finally,” Bade said. “I’m sure they’ll have some of their friends there cheering them on and that’ll give them some more energy. I’m excited it for it.”
