LeRoy-Ostrander’s Bunne commits to Southwest Minnesota State University

LEROY — LeRoy-Ostrander senior Jace Bunne signed his national-letter-of-intent to play football asa preferred walk-on at Division II Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall next season at LeRoy high school Wednesday.

Bunne was a dual threat quarterback with LO this past Fall and he’s expecting to play either quarterback or slot receiver with the Mustangs.

“I really liked the coaches and it seemed like a great fit. I’m super excited. It’s going to be a whole new experience,” Bunne said. “I feel like it’s a program on the rise.”

Bunne is in the middle of wrestling season, but once he’s done with that he said it will be time to prepare for football.

“I’ve got to put some weight back on after wrestling season and I’ve got to get bigger, faster and stronger.

Bunne ran for 1,396 yards and 11 TDs this past season for the Cardinals and he threw for 1,250 yards and 11 TDs.

Hayfield senior linebacker Cody Carpentier also signed with Southwest State on Wednesday and Grand Meadow grad Caleb Leichtnam is set to play defensive back with the Mustangs next season.
