Kathleen M. Tate, 89

Mrs. Tate, wife of Col. (Ret.) Lester K. Tate, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015.
She was born and raised in Austin, Minnesota, and was a daughter of the late Ellery and Phoebe Diedrich Barker. Mrs. Tate graduated from Austin High School and attended Mankato State Teachers College. Mrs. Tate devoted a lot of her time doing volunteer work in military and civilian hospitals. Her last volunteering was in Aiken Regional Medical Centers. She loved the military life and accepted the many moves and separations.
In her spare time she loved to travel. She was a loving and devoted wife who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Col. (Ret.) Lester K. Tate of Aiken; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass, for Mrs. Kathleen M. Tate, 89, of Aiken, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at the Chapel of George Funeral Home. Father Gregory Wilson will officiate.
