The cookies are back.
Girl Scout cookies went on sale over the weekend, and cookie lovers can purchase their favorite cookies when more than 26,000 girls begin selling door-to-door.
Girl Scouts River Valleys is cheering for a new cookie in 2015. Along with the traditional favorites of Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, and Trefoils, River Valleys welcomes the Rah-Rah Raisin cookie to the cookie line-up this year. Plus, River Valleys is participating in a gluten-free cookie pilot program where customers who avoid gluten can purchase Toffee-tastic. The cookie sale runs through March 29.
The program is centered on five skills: goal setting, decision-making, money management, people skills and business ethics. While Girl Scout Daisies may work on building the confidence to speak with adults and learning to count money, Girl Scout Ambassadors write a business plan focused on maximizing repeat customers.
Area Girl Scouts earned more than $2.6 million in troop proceeds to use as they wish in their Girl Scout experience. Every year, money earned by girls for their troops supports programs such as camp, domestic and international travel, troop adventures/expenses, and local community service projects. Local proceeds help fund hundreds of programs and activities that interest girls.
