Fake $10 found among Paint the Town Pink donations
Not everyone who donated to Paint the Town Pink this year had good intentions.
Austin police are looking into a counterfeit $10 bill that was donated to the area cancer fundraiser after Wells Fargo bank employees discovered it in a large deposit Tuesday.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said Paint the Town Pink officials deposited tens of thousands of dollars Tuesday from several fundraising events, so it’s unknown where the fake bill came from.
The bill is tan and slightly blurry.
“Obviously, that’s unfortunate that somebody donating to cancer research gives a counterfeit $10 bill,” he said.
