For those looking to go back to school in Scandinavian studies, there are scholarship options available.
Sons of Norway, Normanna Lodge No. 52, is offering two $2,000 scholarships, one scholarship per person per year, to students with a 3.0 grade point average on a scale of 4.0 who have completed at least two years of college and intend to enroll in a program leading to concentration in Scandinavian studies. Scandinavian studies includes things such as art crafts, history, music, international studies, language, literature, politics, folklore, mythology, men and women, and more.
The money will be paid to the recipient’s college on Dec. 1, after a statement is received from the college indicating enrollment in a Scandinavian studies program. The student has no obligation to Normanna Lodge following acceptance of the scholarship.
The completed application should be postmarked by March 15, 2015. A transcript showing credits earned and GPA is also required.
The money used for these scholarships has been given by Shirley M. Bartholomew, Bertha Weiks, and other members and friends of Sons of Norway Normanna Lodge.
Please send applications and transcripts to Secretary, Sons of Norway, Normanna Lodge No. 52, P.O. Box 875, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
