WHITE BEAR LAKE — A 51-year-old White Bear Lake housekeeper is accused of stealing a wallet and checkbook from a client to pay for more than $14,000 in plastic surgery procedures.
Darla Jean Tyler is charged with four counts of felony check forgery. A criminal complaint alleges she stole a wallet, checkbook, $700 cash and bank statements belonging to an 83-year-old White Bear Lake man.
The complaint claims Tyler was the only other person who had keys to the man’s home and there were no signs of forced entry.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports two of the homeowner’s checks totaling nearly $20,000 were rejected from a health care clinic and a surgeon’s office. Investigators say they found contents of the man’s wallet in Tyler’s home.
Police say she told them the man agreed to pay for the surgery.
It wasn’t immediately known if Tyler has an attorney yet.
