Myron U. Young, 90, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 11, 2015, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.

He was born on Feb. 17, 1924, in rural Oakland, Minnesota, to Uri and Ida (Arett) Young. Myron attended country school and graduated from Austin High School in 1942. He made his living as a farmer. On June 15, 1947, Myron was united in marriage to Betty Madson at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, where he remained a lifelong member. The couple raised three children. Myron’s favorite pastimes included woodworking and having coffee with the guys. He simply enjoyed life. In 2012, he moved to The Cedars of Austin.

Myron was survived by his wife Betty of Austin, who died two days later on Jan. 13, 2015. Other survivors include his three children: Wanda (Michael) Gwinn of Longmont, Colorado, Brian (Wynn) Young of Waltham, Minnesota, and Mary Beth (Roger) Norris of Oakland, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Stacie, Katie, Christopher, Uri, Brianna, William, and Lukas; nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Uri and Ida Young; and one sister Edna Christianson.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with Associate in Ministry Todd Portinga officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Oakland.
