The Lyle-Pacelli boys basketball team had a big second half lead, but it had to hold on to top Lanesboro (6-12 overall, 5-8 SEC) 59-55 in Lyle Friday.
The Athletics (10-5 overall, 10-3 SEC) led by as many as 24 in the second half, but the Burros were able to get close, although they never tied or took the lead.
“You can never let up and assume that a team is going to roll over for you,” LP head coach Dean DeBoer said. “I give Lanesboro a lot of credit, they played hard in the second half and there were some times when we didn’t play hard in the second half.”
Lanesboro 13 42 — 55
LP 29 30 — 59
LP scoring: Noah Jiskra, 20; Jordan Hart, 13; Braden Kocer, 11; Jordan Cotter, 6; Trinity Anderson, 5; Lee Bauer, 4; free throws: 40 percent (8-for-20)
