The Austin Bruins struck first and never looked back as they beat Coulee Region (20-10-6 overall) 4-1 in La Crosse, Wis. Friday.

The Bruins (19-9-10 overall) out-shot the Chill 52-35 and the Bruins led 3-0 after two periods as Tony Uglem, Derek Olmschenk and Brian Bachnak all scored in that stretch.

Evan Smith stopped 34 shots to pick up his third win of the season.
