Family, friends pay tribute to South Sudanese pastor
Family and friends gathered to say goodbye to the Rev. Simon Ter Dup Saturday at Austin’s St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Dup, 47, died Dec. 19 after a more than yearlong battle with lymphoma. He was the first South Sudanese refugee to move to Albert Lea in 2003 and served as pastor of Sudanese congregations at Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin.

Every pew in St. John’s was filled and dozens of people could be seen standing around the perimeter of the room as well as near the entrances to the sanctuary.
