The Austin wrestling team opened its Big Nine dual season with a 34-28 win at Faribault Friday.

Eli Kaercher (heavyweight), Chris Romero (113), Brandon Cotter (160) and Eli Kaercher (heavyweight) all had pins in the wins for the Packers.

“It was a nice win,” Austin head coach Jer Osgood said. “We’re improving week by week and it was a team effort. We wrestled aggressive.”

Danny Albarran won 13-11 in overtime at 106 for Austin, Brandon Edgar won 6-0 at 152, Alec Estrada won 11-3 at 182 and Kole Igou won his match by forfeit.
