The Austin girls basketball team lost by two points for the second straight night when they lost 50-48 to Waseca on the road Saturday.
Austin missed a 3-pointer and a put-back attempt on its final possession of the night.
The Packers (1-2 overall) trailed 19-6 to start the game, but Jaidyn Bastian, who scored 14 points, scored 11 straight points to give Austin a lead and it led 29-23 at the break. The Packers had 35 turnovers.
“It was a disappointing loss for us. The kids played hard. We committed too many turnovers,” Austin head coach Todd Johnson said. “We’ve got to get back after it, make sure we take care of the little things, and we’ve got to learn how to win.”
Austin scoring: Jaidyn Bastian, 14; Ruth Koang, 14; Shayley Vesel, 9; Awenia Nywesh, 4; Alex Hansen, 4; Sydney Murphy, 3; free throws: 80 percent (8-for-10)
