The Hayfield boys basketball team had to fight for it, but it got its first when when it edged out Cannon Falls (1-3 overall) 73-67 in double overtime on the road Tuesday.

Blake Risius hit a big 3-pointer with 1:30 left of the second overtime to put the Vikings (1-3 overall) in control. Adam Younge kept the Vikings alive in regulation when he hit a game-tying free throw with 4-tenths of a second left of the second half.

“We talked before the game how big this game was and I feel really good for them because they worked their tails off to get it and we deserved it,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said. “Hopefully we use this as a springboard going forward.”
