A 28-year-old Austin man was arrested Friday after he allegedly tried to assault a woman at a southeast Austin home.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said officers arrested the suspect shortly after 8 p.m. Friday when the victim reported he tried to break into a home at the 2000 block of Second Avenue Southeast. According to a report, the suspect got into the home while the victim was in the living room, but the victim managed to get him outside through the front door.
The suspect allegedly smashed glass paneling on the door trying to get in and had a physical altercation with the victim, according to Krueger.
Police found and arrested the suspect at the 2100 block of Third Avenue Southeast. Krueger said the man allegedly was drunk and had a blood alcohol content higher than legal guidelines for driving. He remains in Mower County jail pending formal charges.
