Lesley O. Martin, 71, of Austin, Minnesota, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester-Saint Marys Campus.

He was born Aug. 12, 1943, in Pierre, South Dakota, the son of Omar and Gladys (Newmen) Martin. Les grew up in Pierre, graduating from high school there before joining the United States Navy. He served his country from 1962-1964. On April 6, 2005, he married Judy M. Wilson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Les worked at various schools and healthcare facilities over the years. He served as an advocate for the handicapped in Mower County, and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.  Most of his life was spent living between South Dakota and Minnesota.

Les is survived by his wife Judy Martin of Austin, Minnesota; his children: Dean Christianson of Washington, Cindy Limberg of Watertown, South Dakota, Terri Harold of Yankton, South Dakota, Tammy Roubideaux, also of Yankton, Susan Bogacz of Omaha, Nebraska, Angie Martin of Austin, Minnesota, Brian Martin of Austin, Minnesota, Mark Mortenson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Trish Marin, Tammy Mortenson, Becky (Felix) Curtis, all of Austin, Minnesota; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Dr. Stephen DeFor officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials in memory of Les can be directed to the Martin Family.
