An Austin 16-year-old was arrested Monday for allegedly stealing a car and getting into a hit and run.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said the teen was charged with felony possession of stolen goods after officers arrested him near Sumner Elementary School.
Police arrived near Sumner shortly before 5:30 p.m. after someone reported an accident. The vehicle in question, a 2005 Dodge Caravan, was reported stolen in Albert Lea earlier that day.
Krueger said several witnesses told police the teen had driven the car around that day. The suspect told police he had the keys to the car but denied stealing it.
