Olive Marie (Childs) Schultz, 97

Olive Marie (Childs) Schultz, 97, of Ankeny, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa.
Olive was born on Sept. 28, 1916, in Des Moines, Iowa, and was the eldest of 13 children born to Elmer and Pearl McKinney Childs. She graduated from high school in Moulton, Iowa, in 1931, and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, for cosmetology training. Olive worked as a beautician in St. Petersburg, Florida, for almost 20 years.
Olive married Karl Robert Schultz in 1939. A son, Robert Lee, was born to them on July 30, 1942. In 1951, Olive and her son moved to Austin, Minnesota, where she continued to work as a beautician before taking a job teaching cosmetology and eventually becoming head of the department. Following retirement, she moved to Ankeny, where she lived for over 30 years and was a member of Ankeny Baptist Church.
Olive is survived by her only child, Robert (Elizabeth) Schultz of Polk City; four grandsons, Jonathan (Amy) Schultz, Daniel Schultz, David (Angie) Schultz, Timothy (Tiffany) Schultz; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Herteen, Doris Smith, Jeanette Smith and a brother, Ron (Sally) Childs.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home (4208 N Ankeny Blvd) with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow at Ankeny Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to: Schultz Memorial Fund; Ankeny Baptist Church.
