Gregory Scott Amerson, 61

Gregory Scott Amerson, 61

Greg passed away after battling cancer this last year. He died at Kansas City Hospice on Aug. 25, 2014. Greg was with family at the time of his death.

He was born on April 13, 1953, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Travis and Marilyn Amerson. Greg lived his childhood in Texas and Minnesota. He graduated from Pacelli High School in Austin, Minnesota, in 1971. Greg also graduated from welding school and went on to practice welding in Owatonna and Duluth, Minnesota. Afterward, Greg began to craft himself into a salesman. From Life-time Cookware to Kirby Vacuum cleaners, door to door. He once sold a Kirby vacuum with all attachments to a woman who had no rugs in her home. Greg then went into the mobile home industry in sales. He was a top salesman in the industry for years. Greg also sold in the home furnishing market, the diamond sales industry, as well as the RV market.

Greg’s first love was the outdoors. He camped, fished and hunted all over Minnesota. His best times were sitting for hours on a lake without saying a word to anyone. Greg was always full of laughter and jokes, and no one was safe from his fun. Greg was generous and a steadfast friend.

He is survived by his brother, Tom Lee Amerson and his wife Kandy; his sister, Lori Joan Amerson; his two nephews, Christopher Daniel Amerson and Garrett Elan Amerson. He is preceded in death by his parents.

At his request, there will be no formal service, but a Celebration of Life is being planned at a friend’s hunting camp in the early fall of this year where his ashes will be spread over the land he loved.

Greg’s family would like to thank the Kansas City Hospice for all its help and support during Greg’s illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Kansas City Hospice House: Attn: Front Office 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, 64145.
