COTTAGE GROVE — Three members of a Boy Scout troop for adults with disabilities have earned the Eagle Scout rank after years of working toward the achievement.
Seventy-one-year-old Robert Kviberg, 58-year-old John Beard and 47-year-old Dave Nelson were honored Sunday in Cottage Grove for reaching the Boy Scout’s highest rank.
Kviberg worked 25 years for the honor, which Boy Scout members usually have to reach by their 18th birthday. The requirement is waved for the troop of six men led by Jim Rupert.
Rupert has worked with the men for 12 years. He says they spent six months on average to earn each of 21 merit badges. He says he gets choked up thinking about the men’s accomplishment.
