Austin police arrested a 26-year-old man Wednesday after he allegedly broke into a house and assaulted someone with a baseball bat.
The suspect was arrested at Meadows West Apartments at the 300 block of 27th Street Southwest shortly after 3 p.m., according to Police Chief Brian Krueger.
Police were called to the 1600 block of East Oakland Avenue at 2:55 p.m. for a reported assault, where several people allegedly entered a home with baseball bats and assaulted a resident there. Shortly after that, officers found what appeared to be the suspects at Meadows West Apartments. Police set up a perimeter and arrested the 26-year-old for first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, and interfering with a police call.
Officers also arrested a 19-year-old man and 29-year-old woman for probation violations, though Krueger said it’s unclear if the two participated in the baseball bat assault.
Krueger said there was no record the victim required medical attention. The suspects are at the Mower County jail pending formal charges.
