The Austin Church of Christ will hear from a South Sudan ministry.
Bev Douglass Campbell of Gresham, Oregon, will present the work of the South Sudan African Mission at 9 and 10 a.m. during bible school and the worship service on Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Austin Church of Christ.
The South Sudan African Mission was founded 27 years ago by Paul and Marilyn Douglass and Bev, their daughter, is the second generation to continue the mission. The South Sudan African Mission focuses it work in the Aweil and Malek areas of South Sudan and also the Malakol areas. In addition to drilling wells for the citizens of South Sudan, there has been a hospital and a Bible college established for them. Other humanitarian projects have been done as well over the years.
South Sudan is a country that has been in turmoil for a long time. It became a new country in July of 2011, seceding from the country of Sudan. Since then, many difficulties have continued to plague the country. Mission work is not easy but very important to the people of South Sudan.
