A Level 3 predatory offender has moved to Austin.
Mal Pauliet Tharjiath, 22, moved to the area at 13th Avenue and Fifth Street Southeast on Aug. 5, according to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger.
Tharjiath, previously of Minneapolis, was released from prison on June 7 after he served time for criminal sexual conduct. According to a criminal complaint, Tharjiath broke into a home and sexually assault an adult female. He also used sexually explicit threatening language and physically forced the victim to comply. The victim didn’t know Tharjiath, according to the complaint.
Krueger said police will notify area schools and daycares about Tharjiath’s impending move.
Tharjiath has a history of inappropriate sexual behavior when he is intoxicated, according to the complaint.
This is the second time in two months a sexual offender has moved to Austin. Another offender, Paul Berg, moved into northeast Austin in July.
