David A. Commers, 86, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, passed away on Aug. 28, 2014.
As a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, he loved God, his families and his country. He spent many years working in the floor-covering industry in Brooklyn Park and Princeton, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rose Bennek Commers; son Robert; and granddaughters Emily and Maria.
He is survived by his wife Janet Doggett Nelson Commers; three daughters Cheryl Hanks, Lorraine (Jerry) Zieba, Susan (Jon) Losness; daughter-in-law Claire Commers; six sons Tom (Diann), Phil, Edward (Cathy), Peter, Paul (Sheri) and Bill Commers; step-children Cathryn (Daniel) Quinn, Richard, Jack, Joel (Barbara), and Dean Nelson. The families have 24 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 3 p.m., Tuesday, at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 9100 93rd Ave. N., Brooklyn Park. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Internment will be at St. Vincent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Vincent de Paul Church, and to Allina Hospice Foundation, with special thanks to them for their compassionate care.
