The Blooming Prairie volleyball team opened its season with a 25-17, 26-24, 25-22 to Maple Lake (5-0 overall) in the Sideout Classic in Hopkins Saturday.

Taylor Hagen had nine kills and nine blocks for the Awesome Blossoms (0-1 overall).

“Our new players performed well, and that is encouraging,” BP head coach Gina McLaughlin said. “A few of our returners from last year struggled at times in this match. We didn’t play our best volleyball overall, but still competed well with a high caliber team.”
