Organizers for the “Run with the Breast of Us” 5K run/walk in Brownsdale, raised $2,060 for the Hormel Institute’s breast cancer research.
Megan Ellis, lead organizer of the second annual 5K, presented the money recently to Dr. Rebecca Morris, one of The Hormel Institute’s section leaders whose team’s work includes breast cancer research.
The funds were raised during the Aug. 2 race as part of Brownsdale’s “Paint the Town Pink” initiative to support the Institute’s breast cancer research.
In 2013, Megan and her mother Tina Ellis started “Run with the Breast of Us” after Tina made a life-changing decision to get a double mastectomy. The event has raised nearly $3,000 over the past two years for the Institute.
A limited number of “Run with the Breast of Us” T-shirts are available for purchase at $8 each at the Greenway gas station in Brownsdale.
