Several Austin golfers took a swing at cancer Monday.

The fourth annual Dave “Tolly” Tollefson Cancer Research Memorial Golf Outing raised more than $15,000 for cancer research at The Hormel Institute, according to Geri Olson, who helped organize the event with her boyfriend, Brian Tollefson, Dave’s son.

“It was all about having fun and going out and raising money for cancer, and that’s exactly what we did,” Olson said.

More than 100 people golfed Monday and several others volunteers and participated in a silent auction, a raffle and other events held along with the outing.

Olson said organizers plan to continue the tournament in coming years.
