Lyle Independence Day celebration set for this weekend with classic feel

Lyle residents are ready to party this weekend.
Lyle’s Independence Day celebration will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday to celebrate the summer and the upcoming Fourth of July.
“This celebration has been going on for many, my gosh, I think close to 100 years,” said Diana Witt.
Many classic events are back once more, including the Grand Parade with this year’s Grand Marshals Kathleen Pihelgas and Ron and Dolly Haugland. The parade is set for noon on Sunday, June 29.
Local DJs Spin Drive will be at the American Legion to host a dance at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 28.
The Smokin’ Brothers will be at the Lyle American Legion from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday serving barbecue as well.
Other events like the Little Miss Lyle Pageant, Stump Jumpers, and Mud Bog Races are also set for Sunday afternoon.
As always, the Independence Day fireworks will go off starting at dusk on Sunday.

8 p.m. — Music at the Lyle American Legion, food serving starts at 5 p.m.
Saturday
10 a.m. — Classic Car show at Lyle City Park
10 a.m. — Truck and tractor pull at the south end of town
8 p.m. — Street Dance featuring Spin Drive at the Lyle American Legion
Sunday
All day — Antique Tractor and Equipment Display
10 a.m. — Church service in the park
11 a.m. — Smokin’ Brothers BBQ
Noon — Grand Parade, Main Street
1 p.m. — Kids games at Lyle City Park
1 p.m. — Stump Jumpers and Mud Bog Races at the south end of town.
1 p.m. — Bingo Stand at the Southside 4-H
1 p.m. — Flag Presentation with speakers at
1:30 p.m. — JJ’s Pick Up Band at Lyle City Park gazebo
2 p.m. — Fireman Water Fights at the City of Lyle Fire Department
2 p.m. — Horseshoe tourney at the Lyle American Legion
2:30 p.m. — Pedal Pull at the Lyle City Park
3:30 p.m. — Little Miss Lyle Show
4 p.m. — Talent Show
9 p.m. — Fireworks
