Letter: Vision 2020 committed to community cooperation

Vision 2020 has been working on community transformation for more than three years now. We are proud of the many projects and programs that have been launched or strengthened with Vision 2020 involvement and want to take this opportunity to share with Austin Daily Herald readers our commitments to the community.
Vision 2020 is committed to engaging residents in the process. We launched in the fall of 2011 with more than 4,000 ideas submitted from the Austin community. We continue to operate with ten volunteer committees meeting on a regular basis. Those committee meetings are open to the public and details are posted on the Vision 2020 web site at www.vision2020austin.com. All are welcome to join in the work and we continue to see new volunteers each month.
Vision 2020 is committed to working with a variety of partners. We work with local units of government: abiding by policies and procedures for transparency and respecting the decisions of elected bodies. We work with local non profits: partnering to further missions and lending support to grant requests and fund raising. We work with local businesses: respecting accountability to shareholders and employees. We are grateful to receive engagement and support from local businesses and are committed to actions that build trust with the business community.
Vision 2020 is committed to ambitious goals to transform Austin. With a vision set by the community and cooperation from many partners, we will persevere and deliver better quality of life for all Austin residents. That is what we believe Austin deserves.
