MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police say an “out of control” group of more than 50 young people caused a chaotic scene near downtown.
The mob scene happened Sunday night between Loring Park and the Nicollet Mall.
Police spokesman John Elder says participants moved and ran together, slapping one another, damaging property and generally “acting the fool.”
Elder said no one was seriously hurt, and a minimal number of arrests were made. But he says the ruckus, which began about 6:30 p.m., took about an hour to clear, and required not only the intervention of First Precinct officers, but also park and transit police.
Elder says the motives of those involved are unclear.
