Classical MPR Plays AHS Wind Ensemble

Classical Minnesota Public Radio, a network of nearly 40 stations throughout the state, recently broadcast two performances by Austin High School band students. As part of the Classical MPR School Spotlight program, the stations select performances by respected music ensembles throughout the state to have their performances played on morning and evening broadcasts on Classical MPR.
In the Austin area, listeners heard the AHS Wind Ensemble perform Shelley Hanson’s “Albanian Dance,” as recorded at their MMEA State Convention performance in Minneapolis in February. MPR also broadcast the band playing “Perthshire Majesty” by Sam Hazo, as recorded at their Big Nine Music Festival performance on May 2.
