Austin Utilities officials have issued a peak energy alert until 8 p.m. Monday.

Utilities officials urge area residents to limit the amount of energy they use, which can include not using the oven, unplugging unnecessary electric appliances and equipment, and setting air conditioner thermostats no lower than 78 degrees.
