Brownsdale Study Club
The Brownsdale Study Club April meeting was held at the home of Beryl Sprung. The meeting was opened with the Collect. Eight members were present. Roll call was answered by telling our favorite memory of Easter. All had stories and we had fun laughing and talking about them.
In old business there was a reminder to all that we will be having a luncheon on June 25 at The Brick House in Austin, followed by a tour at the Mower County Historical Society.
In new business we welcomed Joyce Juhnke as a new member of our club. Four members have volunteered to get together in June to plan our anniversary celebration.
Sara Hatten presented our main topic, “The Nest,” a story about two doves building a nest and what this meant to mom and her son. A discussion followed about what birds do for our lives and everyone had a story to tell.
Outside reading was given by Mildred Johnson. The topic was rubber bands, how the rubber sap is collected from the trees and they are still made in the USA. She gave another report on the history of aprons.
Happy laughing and chattering followed us the dining table where we had coffee and a delicious dessert prepared by Beryl.
The May meeting will be held at the home of Ida Foster.
