Blue Devil baseball team wins MCAC South title

The Riverland Community College baseball team wrapped up its first MCAC Southern Division title since 2011 when it beat Anoka-Ramsey 4-0 in the first game of a doubleheader in Anoka Tuesday.

The Blue Devils dropped the nightcap 8-4.

Lewiston native Zach Nelson pitched seven scoreless innings in the conference clicking win for the Blue Devils (23-14 overall, 10-4 MCAC South).

“The team came together for that first win,” RCC assistant coach Brian Voigt said. “We got an early lead and Zach Nelson shut the door. He kept every body off balanced and his curve ball was working.”

Kenny Perez knocked in two runs in the win for RCC.
