Austin High School and Ellis Middle School’s bands are about to have a blast.
The bands are getting ready for this year’s Band Blast at 7 p.m. Monday in Knowlton Auditorium. The concert will continue many great traditions of the past, as well as featuring new pop songs.
Audiences will be treated to traditional favorites, including a polka band, the playing of the Austin High School Alma Mater, and patriotic favorites like “America the Beautiful.” But students will also break out music from more recent animated films, including the soundtrack to the smash-hit, Disney’s “Frozen.”
“This is a chance to show off the talents of students in concert band, jazz band, and even section novelty features,” Director Bradley Mariska said in a press release.
There will be special performances by the trombone section, a saxophone quartet, as well as performances by Ellis Middle School students, who will play music from “Pocohontas” and “The Incredibles.”
Tickets to the concert will be available at the door. Patrons are encouraged to arrive early for the best seats. Adult tickets are $7 and students are $5.
