Harold L. Shaman, 92 of Long Beach, Calif., formerly of Austin, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at his home in Long Beach.
He was born Aug. 22, 1921, in rural Mower County, Minn., to Frank and Nora (Morris) Shaman. A 1940 graduate of Austin High School, Harold made his living as a painter and maintenance worker, retiring in 1984. Harold married Charlotte Paulson in 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They later divorced. Charlotte passed away in 2012. Harold moved to California in 1967, the same year he married Mary Dilger. Mary died in 2000. Harold enjoyed taking walks, especially with his pet dog, taking trips to the beach and going to the casino.
Survivors include two sons; Harold ‘Joe’ (Kaye) Shaman of Placerville, Calif., and Stephen Shaman, also of California; one daughter Nora (Duane) Mattick of Lyle; two step-daughters Lorraine Feuerhak and Bernice Schulz; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Nora Shaman, his first wife Charlotte, his second wife Mary, and one brother Robert Shaman.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, with Pastor Barbara Finley-Shea officiating. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
