MINNEAPOLIS — A Minneapolis man with muscular dystrophy is suing the owner of a McDonald’s, saying the restaurant twice resisted his attempts to buy food.

Fifty-two-year-old Robert Mingo, who uses a wheelchair and has a service dog, says he was kicked out of a Minneapolis McDonald’s last May after a manager demanded documentation that his service dog was legitimate. Mingo says he was also told not to come back to the restaurant after purchasing food in August of 2012.

Mingo’s lawsuit filed in federal court sues franchise owner Tim Baylor and the McDonald’s corporation for unspecified damages and asks that its employees be educated about the federal Disabilities Act.

Baylor says he takes complaints like Mingo’s seriously and that his restaurant strives to provide great customer service.
