Blossoms win two of three in Maple River softball tournament

The Blooming Prairie softball team won two of three games at the Maple River tournament Saturday.

The Awesome Blossoms beat Blue Earth 9-1 and topped Rochester Lourdes 11-1 before they fell to Maple River 13-3.

Sydney Heiber went 8-for-13 with two doubles and two RBIs for BP (4-1 overall) and Megan O’Connor went 6-for-12 with two RBIs.

BP freshman Elly Strunk picked up the win in the first two games as she struck out 12 in 14 innings and allowed just two runs in those games.

“I think we had a great day,” BP head coach Ali Mach said. “All the girls played well and Elly had an excellent tournament for us pitching.”
