Luanne “Lu” Tretter, 66, of Baxter, Minn., died on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lu at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala, Minn., with visitation one hour prior to services. A Visitation for Lu will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.

Lu was born on Aug. 3, 1947, in Little Falls, Minn., to Herman and Walburga (Eiden) Liebsch. She graduated from Upsala High School and then went on to attend nursing training in Duluth, Minn. She was united into marriage to Robert Tretter in 1968. She worked in Austin and New Ulm before moving to the Brainerd Lakes Area where she has been a resident till her death. Lu after her divorce attended Central Lakes College where she graduated with her registered nurse’s license. She worked at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd, Minn., and also at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Minn. Lu enjoyed watching the Vikings and the Twins. She also liked flowers, gardening, reading, traveling, and sharing various musical interests with her sons. She was a member of the Woodland Wildflower Red Hats and Blue Star Mothers. Lu especially loved being a grandma, spending time and enjoying activities with her grandchildren.

Lu is survived by her children; Robert Jr. (Karla) Tretter of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; Scott (Jessica) Tretter of Minneapolis; and Troy Tretter of Maple Grove, Minn.; brother, Ralph (Pat) Liebsch of St. Paul, Minn.; sisters, Lila (Bill) Erickson of Fountain Valley, Calif.; Joyce (Dennis) Bednarz of Browerville, Minn.; and Eileen (Leonard) Koroll of Elmdale, Minn.; and four grandchildren, Christina, Jenna, Hayden, and Liv. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Stacy; brother, Norman Liebsch; great-nephew, Lewis Wilczek; and great-nieces, Delores Liebsch and Nora Liebsch. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
