Francis Howard Rumsey, 69, of Austin, Minn., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home. He was born May 14, 1944, in Austin, Minn., to Bernard and Lucille (Francis) Rumsey. After attending Austin High School, Howard served in the United States Army. He then went to work for Wally Bustad Crane Service, where he worked for more than 30 years. On Nov. 6, 1965, Howard Rumsey and Marilyn Ziebell were united in marriage in Plainview, Minn. The couple raised three children. Howard enjoyed his job as a truck driver, as well as driving his 1970 Cadillac and listening to music from the 1950s, ‘60s, and ‘70s.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Rumsey, of Austin; his children Char (Pete) Klingfus of Austin, Chris (Dustin) Crews, also of Austin, and Mike (Tanya) Rumsey of Brownsdale; five grandchildren, Kevin Crews, Caden Crews, Mikiah Rumsey, Paige Klingfus, and Cara Klingfus; siblings Joan Bustad and Patricia Andersen, both of Austin, Donald (Mary Ann) Rumsey of Rumbach, Germany; sister-in-law Lavern Rumsey of Wabasha, Minn.; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Lucille Rumsey and three brothers, Leon, Ben, and Bernard Rumsey, Jr.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, with Rev. Mike Olmsted officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 3, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery at a later date.
