City switches polling place to Riverland gym

Voters in Austin’s Ward 1, Precinct 1 will have a new polling place this November.
Riverland Community College’s East campus gym lobby will be the new polling place for Precinct 1 voters instead of Austin Public Library. The Austin City Council approved the change during its public meeting Monday.
City officials say the library isn’t quite large enough to meet polling needs anymore, as polling officials have reported more lines and tighter space over the past few years. Council Member Judy Enright suggested Riverland as a potential solution earlier this year, and city officials agreed after a tour.
City officials say the switch won’t cost anything to the city.
